Snapchat provides no legacy contact, memorialization or digital legacy planning tools. Its privacy policies forbid granting account access to anyone, so posthumous management is only possible if someone already has the account's login credentials. If you can log in, you can use the My Data tool to download a copy of the account's content or directly delete the account. There is no process for loved ones to gain access through legal documentation alone.
Deletion Only Via Direct Login
To delete a deceased user's account, you must log in with their credentials at accounts.snapchat.com, click "Delete My Account" and follow the prompts. There is no external bereavement request form for deletion.
My Data Download Tool (If Credentials Are Available)
If you can log in, the My Data tool allows you to download the account's information, including Memories, Snap History, Saved Chat History, Friends, Location and more.
Legal Documents Don't Help
Even with a death certificate or court issued documentation, family members cannot gain access to or control over a deceased user's Snapchat account. Legal documents are not recognized as authorization by Snapchat.
